The Impaler series
“Pedro Queirós & Manuel Bivar
In an overwhelmingly depopulated territory, where hardly anyone speaks or acts upon it, it is now populated by wild boars, eucalyptus, and broom shrubs.
Funerary ornaments are created as an ode to the last inhabitants of this territory, an ode to extinction.
A performative essay in the form of a banquet is held. Participants are adorned with jewelry made from ceramics, brass, and baroque pearls, invited to celebrate the great extinction while dining on wild boar under the scent of broom and eucalyptus.
(This performative installation took place in two moments/shows during the year 2019, first in Porto and a second moment in Lisbon (FEA Lisboa'19).
The jewelry was subsequently presented in the international competition of contemporary jewelry, Collectiva Meeting'19, in Porto, Portugal
